HOW WE HANDLE DATA ACROSS BASALT WORKS
01 // CONTROLLER & SCOPE
Basalt Works is responsible for the personal information described here. This policy covers the Basalt Works website and its product and support pages. Mobile-app processing is described in each product's privacy policy. We do not sell personal information.
02 // LANGUAGE PREFERENCE
When you choose English or Spanish, the website saves that choice in your browser's localStorage under basalt-lang. If no choice is saved, the site reads your browser language and uses Spanish when it begins with es; otherwise it uses English. This preference is used only to display the site in your chosen language, not for advertising or cross-site tracking. It remains until you change it or clear the site's local storage.
03 // CONTACT & SUPPORT FORMS
The homepage form asks for your name, email and message, plus an optional company name. Product support forms ask for your email, issue type and message, plus optional device model, operating-system version and app version; the app name and source page are also sent. We use this information to answer the enquiry, provide requested pre-contract information or support, and keep necessary correspondence. You can instead contact the email address shown on the relevant page.
04 // HOSTING & REQUEST DATA
The website is hosted on Vercel. When you request a page, Vercel's infrastructure may process request metadata needed to deliver and protect the service, such as IP address, date and time, requested URL, user-agent or browser/device information, referral information and request headers. We use this processing to serve the site, maintain security, prevent abuse and diagnose availability or technical problems.
05 // PURPOSES & LEGAL BASES
We process enquiries to reply and, where relevant, take steps you request before a contract. We may also process correspondence and limited technical data for our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the website and support service, after considering users' rights. We process information when needed to meet a legal obligation. If we ask for consent for an optional activity, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
06 // PROCESSORS & TRANSFERS
Form submissions are sent to Formspree, which processes the submitted fields so we can receive and answer them. Vercel processes website requests as our hosting provider. Information may also be available to people working for Basalt Works who need it, professional advisers, or public authorities where legally required. These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers must use a lawful safeguard, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
07 // RETENTION & SECURITY
We keep enquiries for as long as reasonably needed to answer, manage follow-up, provide support and establish or defend legal claims, and longer only where law requires it. Hosting and security records are kept according to operational need, our provider settings and applicable provider policies. Retention depends on the enquiry, any continuing relationship, security needs and legal duties; we do not state a fixed period where none has been established. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service is risk-free.
08 // YOUR RIGHTS & CONTACT
Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent where consent is the basis.
